September 19, 2003Ok we had a member that a few weeks ago was getting close to 30 days with no login and no posts. I sent a friendly reminder telling them they had up to the 60th day to post in the FL Chapter (as they have to log in to post I don't count logins).... 2 weeks went by, no reply nothing. Then I see that they have since logged on but still not posted in the FL Chapter and in fact have NEVER posted in the chapter, posted in others, but not FL... Am I speaking a foreign language or should I just give up on the posting rule till we get bigger?
Forums : Florida Chapter : Am I speaking a different language? (Go to chapter) (136 Views)
September 19, 2003Nope, I have been doing the same here....
Now, most are starting. Like I said ealier in another post, some did not even know about the chapter forums
September 19, 2003In all of the warnings/reminders I sent out I included a link and explanation of the forum but maybe some members don't understand or aren't internet savvy enough to get it?
Maybe it's because I AM so computer literate and up-to date on the tech industry that it comes as second nature to me, been surfing the web since 93.
September 19, 2003Naw, just give up on it after we're bigger
Don't wanna worry about if one or two haven't posted for whatever reason. And with enough people, more will be going to shows, etc. Some probably prefer that to the forum.
September 19, 2003Didn't Miami try to get changed to Spanish for the official language?
September 19, 2003You mean it's not?
September 19, 2003no spanish is our offical language , well that and veitimense (sp) hel we even have street signs in all three languages
September 19, 2003Just a thought,
Email through DTW only works if they still have that address. Many people get free Email accounts for signing up on forums and never check them. A member may later get involved enough in the forum to join something like the chapters we have here and forget that they put in the bogus or non-working Email. I suggest you print a reminder of keeping Email addresses current on your chapter page so you don't lose members who simply forgot to check
September 19, 2003That's not a bad idea. I do know many people who use false or "web" email addresses for doing stuff that is "public".
September 19, 2003You guys have a point.... I'm going to leave it as is but I'm probably not going to enforce it. Linda like speed limits huh I dunno I'll sleep on it. I'm a really reasonably guy (at least I like to think I am) I want to see this chapter grow so maybe I'll treat it like a plant, when a leaf dies I'll prone it, a member stops participating I'll remove it, can't expect them to remove themselves.
September 19, 2003I don't see anything wrong with removing them after the time period and email warning. If the email is incorrect then their being removed would certainly make them notice if they came to the forum.
And for the few which are getting the email and still not participating, they can always return and join again when they have more time. It's not we are kicking them off the whole forums and putting a bright mark around their screen name. Simply keeps the chapter from having inflated numbers.
