March 31, 2012Im sure this topic has posted before but I cant find everything I need. What is safe egt for a 20005 5.9l common rail? Stock turbo, my pyro is pre turbo, 5``turbo back exhaust, afe bladrunner intake and manifold, edge juice with attitude, dual disc clutch and 37``. It wasnt getting too hot before but now with the big tires itll spike to 11 quick. hottest iv gotten it recently is 1200 because im afraid to melt down anything. I read that it can hold 12-1350 all day long but im nervous. Any info is helpful since im driving like a grandma right now. Thanks

April 1, 20121300 is max proglonged EGT pre turbo. you can spike higher for short periods. If you are running advanced timing you want to stay 100 degrees lower.

April 1, 2012I almost never go over 1200. I been driving the truck for a few months now (it dont see winter) and i havnt gotten over 1255 yet. i just wanna know how much more i can get into it b4 i should start to worry. and whats the relationship with turbos and cmf of air? not sure if i got the letters right. I dont know anything about it so when people mention how tow turbos that hit the same psi, one will have more cmf of flow i dont know what that means.
April 2, 2012I always tell people that you can run 1300-1350 all day. So that is what I`m telling you and what sierraram said too. Cfm is cubic feet a minute. Larger turbos can move more air and still hit the same psi. But, more psi doesn`t always mean it is more efficient. I can`t remember specs but something like anything over 32-35 psi on a stock turbo is just pushing more hot air through the engine.
