May 1, 2011I`ve heard there is a modification that will disable the torque management system on a Dakota but can`t find any solid info on it. I guess the main reason for the curiosity of it is because no matter what I do, my little pickup just won`t do a burnout.

May 3, 2011I have a 04 Dakota QC 4x4 with the 4.7 HO V8, and I did a few mode to it, I put the magnaflow exhaust on it with E3 spark plugs, I bought the ( SCT ) or Super Chips Tuner Flaspaq. I have also 265/75/R16 BFG KM2 tires and I have no problem burning them tires off actually I have to be careful....u have an option in the SCT to turn ur torque up for towing only bad thing is it will set u back about $365.00

To the OP, what year and engine is your dakota? The Torque management mod only works on 00-03 3.7 and 4.7`s. From what I remember it`s a yellow wire with a green trace... IIRC it`s on the PCM plug closest to the cab, you cut it to disable the torque management system.
It seems to be hit or miss on if it works properly or not.... whether of not it`s the users doing it wrong or the trucks just not taking to the mod I don`t know. Seems like 20-30% of people have issues and hook the wire back up later. They have issues like loosing 1st gear and or O/D
Your truck won`t do a burnout? Hold the brake and put the go pedal to the floor.... the tires will spin, when your ready let off the brake and you`ll roll away burning the tires
