August 21, 2005Im going to be driving to school everyday. Its about 11 miles to school. About 1.5 miles of it is city, but there is only 3 red lights. The rest of it is highway driving with a few hills.
August 21, 2005I've got a custom cold air kit made by myself, and flowmaster duals. My mathwork tells me i got 21.2 mpg, highway. city mpg, i really couldnt say, 99.99% of my driving is done on the highway
August 21, 2005It's a tough little engine. I don't know about Dakotas but there are 2.5 minivans out there that frequently see a Rumble Bee only thru their rearview mirror.
January 29, 2006the 3.8L is a nice engine. you can find some performance mods (ie headers), if you know where to look.
January 30, 2006my 4.7 gets 18.5 right now and weather warms up i will be getting about 19.5-20 mpg thats city for me and i normaly have my foot in it. i would say go 4.7 if you can
January 30, 2006Anyone out there still have a 2.5L Dakota? Back when I had my Dakotas, I used to hang out over at dodgedakotas.com and there were several guys who had them over there, might want to check that site out.
January 31, 2006I would'nt mind signing up with dodgedakotas.com but it cost like 30.00 summin dollars why would I pay to join a forum!!!!
January 31, 2006I never signed up as part of the forum so I never paid, thought that was ridiculous too. I just posted as a guest and read the topics. Site has some good discussions, but like all forums that let you post for free, you get some nonsense in there as well.
February 1, 2006Yes but ive seen more losers on there than I have ever seen dick around with us on here. people go on there mess with everyone. I used to be a member of s10forum.com when I had my s10 its a good site and free but people mess around on there too.
February 1, 2006My 96' Dakota Sport had a 2.5 Magnum with the 5 spd, I also had the 3.90 Anti-spin.
It got an average of 18-21 MPG on my daily commute to work, but I still found myself wishing for the 3.9 or 5.2 in that Dakota.....
But it ran Extremely well, occassionally it would chirp first GEAR!
A buddy of mine drove it once and he said it would run rings around his 3.9 RC 4X4!
I later Traded it in on my 01' Dakota 3.9 4X4!
I loved that Dakota, and kind of wish I had kept it!
February 1, 2006Well Guys I guess you havent been to www.dakotausa.com in a longtime then as they went back to a free website and also www.dakota-durango.com both are great sites with knowledgable people and in not like DodgeDakotas.com in which you had to deal with all the Flamers from other places
