May 17, 2011I have a 95 ram 2500. I have recently realized that when I changed my oil it was low. Since then I have noticed while driving the oil pressure gage will fluxuate from middle of the scale to the lower end, not 0 but the lower end of still in the white scale before going into red. If I get on it the scale goes up to good but if I am just cruising at constant speed or come to a stop is when it goes down. I was wondering if anyone could point me in a direction to find out why I am burning/lossing oil. it isnt just leaking from the pan. thanks

May 18, 2011Are you blowing any black or grey smoke out the exhaust?
May 18, 2011I have a 2004 3500 and I after changing the oil I have to crawl up and check the oil filter every few days because no matter how hard i get it tight, for some reason it works it self loose. Once on a GTG in Randsburg the oil gauge was going up and down and someone noticed oil on my driving shock and sure enough when I crawled up and checked the oil filter, it was just hanging on by a thread.

August 22, 2014I had an issue with oil pressure and went to 15w-40 in the summer with the heat. I would look towards a compression check. You may be getting some slight blow-by.
I have read of the plenum gasket in the lifter valley being notoriuos for leaking. Hope this helps.
