September 22, 2009I ran into some valvetrain noise and bad lifters on my 1998 1500 5.2 4x4. Ive replaced the lifters and appear to have noise from worn rocker arms, etc too, and thought id look into an upgrade. I see rollers in 1.6 (stock?) and 1.7, would the 1.7s help much with power and work with stock computer/injectors and valves/springs fine? Only after market items are high flow air intake/filter and magnaflow cat w/ glasspack flowthru muffler.

September 24, 20091.7's are a nice easy upgrade for the 5.9 and 5.2 engine. A little research and you will find the instructions to adjust the valve lash as well. I have used the Harland Shard rockers with the pedestal to stud conversion kit. Also check out Hughes Engines for some good deals.
October 1, 2009im goin to upgrade to the 1.7 rollers myself, just gotta get the extra cash to do it.
