October 21, 2007What do you think it would cost to make my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 360ci with 60,000 miles into a 408 stroker. I will have a dual electric fan, headers, mopar cold air intake, 52mm throttle body, mopar magnum valve covers, Hypertech power programmer 111 already installed before I get my mechanic to build my motor. What I am wanting is a price on what you think this would cost me to hire a mechanic and buy all the parts to make a 408 stroker perform properly. Thanks
October 23, 2007JEGS has the 408 Base Made from a 360 block, Cast iron heads 202 intake 160 exhaust Mopar performance covers chrome and timing cover 9.5 to 1 compression comes with a 30 month or 50 thousand mile warranty for 3599.99 I would also be interested in what an engine builder would charge to build my 360 up.
October 23, 2007WoW 3599. Not as bad as i thought it would be
October 29, 2007Not sure about the remove and reinstall but figure on 3 - 5K for a short block and then you could save some money and have your stock heads re-worked. I bought the Edlebrock 2.02 heads and was very pleased with the work on them plus only $1,600 from Summit. If you already have a 360 a local machine shop should be able to build you a 408 short block around 3K. Alot of these low price blocks are rebuilt very cheap with stock pistons and reground cranks. I bought a 408 short block from KRC but have not installed it yet due to my work schedule. A 52 or 53mm is preferred for the intake. Depending on the cam that you choose then also a custom flashed PCM will be needed. I did upgrade my injectors but stock ones will still work.
November 21, 2007Ya i don't know anything on the prices, but i know Cruzer mentioned before that it may be cheaper just to buy a new 408 block rather than have all the machine work done on it. It can be expensive to have machine work done.
Anyone know what happened to Cruzer? That guy was extremely knowledgable
November 24, 2007MoparManiaK,
I recieved an email from cruzzer a while back and he's doing good he's just been real busy. he told he would be back here when he gets a chance and yes he is enjoying retirement.
November 29, 2007Hey Johnny, havn't been up to much, just the whole college thing which takes up most all of my time. I recently replaced my old rusted "Ohio" shocks and painted my rear axel, which made a big difference. That's pretty much all i've had time to do though.
It will be nice when Cruzer gets back on here.
Hey since you've had some time with those rockers, how do you like them?
December 23, 2007MoparManiaK,
Sorry I haven't responded.
I really love the RR they really made a big noticable diff along with the headers.
the only mod I've done lately was I removed my amber bulbs and replaced them with some chrome one's thanks to one of my buddies R/ ays truck up in Canada.
